Hiya--
Whoops! I realized pretty quickly last night that my 1s of silence was not being applied to all songs. I'm pretty sure I've weeded out the problem and am releasing a new patch today. It's already up on the downloads page.
Best,

VMG 1.3.4
Hello all,
I'm releasing a minor patch today, with some bug fixes and small improvements.
This patch hopefully fixes an issue where some songs would end with long (20-30s) sustained notes, as well as some songs that ended abruptly.
I also added ~1s of silence to the end of songs to improve album-style listening.
Go get it from the downloads page!
In previous versions, the music generator would crash occasionally for certain inputs. If you experience this with version 1.3.4, please let me know (and tell me the input if you can)! It might have been fixed by these changes, or maybe I've just been unable to reproduce it.

Version 1.2 Release Date & Notes Annouced!
Wait didn't Version 1.1 just come out?
Well, yes, technically, yes. But there were a number of extra goodies that I didn't quite have done on time, so we're going to release them as Version 1.2 on 9/20/14. Right now I'm not 100% sure if you'll be able to achieve the same results on Version 1.2 as you can on 1.1, but the new features make big enough changes that I'm bumping the first decimal up anyway. Anyway, on to the good stuff! You can check out the upcoming features on our new Release Notes page!
And until the new release hits, remember you can still get Version 1.1 (for free!) while it's hot off the code press.

Voodoo Music Generator 1.1
Well, we first released the Voodoo Music Generator a year ago today! In anticipation of this event, I've been working on a number of updates to release as Update 1.1! Unfortunately, some of the exciting bonus features I've been working on are not quite ready to launch, so while we are releasing Version 1.1 today, also expect Version 1.2 in the near future with additional goodies!
Here are the notes for today's update (which you can pick up here):
Here are the notes for today's update (which you can pick up here):
Voodoo Music Generator 1.1:
- Tweaked the randomness system to provide more consistent results when using different instruments.
- Dynamic Note Velocities -- Where previously all notes were scored at the same velocity value, the music generator will now implement velocity patterns, making results more fluid and realistic.
- Drums! Each of the 47 General Midi Percussion voices are now available for use in the generator, under the category "Drums", or just at the very bottom of the list.
- Efficiency -- Revised some algorithms that were slowing the process down considerably.
- Bug fixes -- There were several, ranging from minor to impressive, but I didn't keep track of what they were exactly.

Voodoo Music Generator (Full Edition) Official Release!
That's right! You can now get the Full Edition of the Voodoo Music Generator, which will let you not only generate music, but choose your own instruments as well! The VMG is programmed to compose for each of the 128 General Midi instruments, so you'll have all of those and any combination thereof to choose from. As though having to choose what input phrase to punch in wasn't enough!
Take care, and happy generating!
